Frequently Asked Questions about Tub and Shower Reglazing
Why should I consider reglazing?
Reglazing is affordable remodeling option that can dramatically improve the look of your bathroom without the cost of retiling. Customers can save 60 to 80% versus retiling. With these savings you can invest in other, more prominent bathroom features like vanities, fixtures and lighting.
How long will reglazing last?
DR Reglazing uses only professional-quality polyurethane primers and coatings that resist chipping or discoloration for a minimum of five years of normal use.
Are these chemicals safe?
We use only professional grade coatings, approved by state and the US EPA.
What colors are available?
We offer three popular color choices: white, bone and biscuit.
Do you offer any warranty?
DR Reglazing offers homeowners a five-year warranty. If any of our coatings fail up to five years after application, we will cheerfully repair or replace the coating at no charge. Bathroom refinishing in rental properties have a limited two-year warranty.
I did my own reglazing but it is starting to peel? Can you cover it up?
No, to ensure proper adhesion of coatings, it is first necessary to prepare tile surfaces. That means removing all previous coatings, mineral scale and dirt. We also remove anti-slip mats, stickers and adhesive residue.
Can you treat any tub or shower?
We can professionally reglaze any enamel steel, enamel cast iron or fiberglass tub or shower enclosure.
Will the pre-treatment chemicals you use harm my pipes?
All our pre-treatment chemicals (to assure proper adhesion of coatings) are ‘pipe-safe’.
How soon after coating can I use my new tub?
Our polyurethane coatings are “cured” (dry) within 48 hours of application. After 48 hours, you may use your shower with no problems. Due to the extra weight of water, we recommend waiting a full seven days before you fill your bathtub.
Do I need to use any special cleaners?
You should use mild-abrasive (“soft-scrub” bathroom cleaners to clean your new tub or shower. Ajax-brand powdered cleaners contain harsh abrasives and are not recommended.
What do I need to do to get ready for a reglazing job?
You should remove all soaps, shampoos and anti-slip mats from the shower or tub area. If possible, please remove all personal care items from bathroom vanities.
What is involved in clean-up?
DR Reglazing is 100% responsible for restoring your bathroom to its original condition. We remove and haul away all drop cloths, tape and any removed coatings.
Can I continue to use my anti-slip mat?
Rubber, anti-slip mats and decals are not recommended since they can retain water.
